Dragon Boat
Race day on the harbour: on the homepage three long dragon boats race up their lanes towards the finish buoys, each with a carved head rearing at the bow, the drum just behind it, a row of paddles digging into the water and one of your prizes riding amidships. A countdown on the finish board in the two weeks before Duanwu, the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, worked out for every year, and a festival greeting on race day, with an option to keep it up the day after for weekend regattas. Jade, river teal and young bamboo by day; by night a harbour race under the city lights, their reflections trailing across the water. Lane ropes for borders, zongzi tied in bamboo leaves on your winnings, five-colour silk threads, a podium of boats on the winners page and a dragon boat sprinting across the screen that pulls the other mode in its wake for the dark/light switch. Use it all year: outside the season it is simply a shop on the water.
