Festivals
Mid-Autumn
The Moon Festival: on the homepage, a great harvest moon rises over still water and your prizes are pressed into mooncakes, each with a fluted rim and a ring of pressed petals round a window onto the prize, while a rabbit lantern and a star lantern glow on the shore. A countdown in the three weeks before the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, worked out for every year, and a greeting from the evening the lanterns are lit to the end of the festival day. A plum-and-indigo night with lantern amber and moon gold, a rice-paper dusk by day, brushed moon characters on Chinese pages, a band of moon phases, river lanterns drifting along the footer and paper lanterns rising for the dark/light switch. Use it all year: outside the season it is simply a moonlit shop.
