Vintage Arcade

Your shop as a 1980s video arcade, played for real: on the homepage a row of upright cabinets in purple side art and yellow T-molding, each CRT bulging behind its bezel with scanlines across the glass, running one of your live prizes in attract mode — the prize with its name lit on the marquee, then a blinking INSERT COIN — above a control panel of joystick and buttons and a coin door with its token slot glowing. When the page loads the screens power on the way old tubes do: a white line splits the dark glass and opens into the picture. Headlines in a pixel face drawn on a strict grid, scores and counters in the square bitmap of the cabinets, and sprites of tokens, tickets, trophies and plush prizes drawn pixel by pixel, never blurred. After dark it is the arcade at night, cabinet black-purple glowing in magenta, cyan, yellow and green phosphor over a cosmic carpet; by day the same arcade with the shutters up: sunlit carpet, cabinet art in bright inks and the prize counter in daylight. A token cup for the wallet, prize-counter tickets off the roll for your winnings, a CRT scoreboard of the latest winners, "GAME OVER · 404 · CONTINUE?" counting down to home, buttons that travel when pressed, a token that drops into the slot when you bid or add to cart, and a dark/light switch that powers the screen down to a line and a dot and back on again. Evergreen: no dates to set, it is an arcade all year.
