Loy Krathong

The night of floating krathongs, on the full moon of the twelfth Thai month: on the homepage, your prizes float on the river as the hearts of krathongs — banana leaf folded into rows of pointed, pinned pleats round a slice of banana trunk, crowned with marigolds and orchids, each with its candle lit and a streak of candlelight trailing on the water. A countdown on four slices of banana trunk in the two weeks before the festival and a Happy Loy Krathong greeting on the night, kept as the Thai lunar calendar gives the festival for 2026 to 2035 or on your own date, for Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and the Thai diaspora. By day an afternoon of folding on the riverbank in fresh leaf green, cream and marigold; after dark the river at night, deep indigo water with candlelight drifting on it. A great krathong holding the total for the winners, a broad banana leaf for the wallet, a krathong seen from above as the zero of 404, and a dark/light switch that folds rows of leaf in from the edges of the screen, the way a krathong is made, until they close under a crown of marigolds and a lit candle. Every other page of the shop is dressed in the same craft — pleat bands, kleep folds, marigolds, orchids, leaf ribs and trunk slices — with a small drawing from the riverbank on every empty or waiting screen, from an empty woven tray to a krathong tipped over with its candle out. Use it all year: outside the season it is simply a calm, crafted shop.
